Whether you desire a traditional classy look or a striking modern look, tulips can work well for you as a central flower.
Popular Uses for Wedding Tulips
Purple Tulips Bouquet:
Although tulips for spring weddings have been used successfully for centuries, purple tulips open very quickly and so, this factor must influence every step of the designing process when using tulips. If you want to use only tulips in your wedding bouquets, make sure to cut the stems relatively short and keep your bouquet in water and in the dark for as long as possible until the time you display it by walking down the aisle.
Another, less stressful way to use tulips in your wedding bouquet, is to combine tulips with other larger and sturdier flowers such as roses, orchids, chrysanthemums, gerberas, etc… Having stronger and larger flowers in your bouquet will help support your tulips. Since tulip stems are thin and flimsy compared to the weight of the flower itself, if you are going to use tulips as the main focus of your wedding bouquets you will need to take precautions by keeping your bouquets in the refrigerator until you are ready to go.
Magic and Grace!
Once you walk out proudly with your tulip bouquet, it’s time to enjoy and delight in the fact that your tulips will keep growing throughout your wedding day. They will open up wide and they will gravitate towards the light, helping you celebrate your special day with style, grace, magic & wonder.
Centerpieces:
Tulip wedding centerpieces are just about the easiest centerpieces for DIY brides to make at home. All you need are see-through glass containers and bunches of tulips in your color. The first option is to cut your tulips just a little shorter than the container and insert your tulips inside your vase. Fill your vase with water so that your tulips are contained within your dish and can be seen through the vase. The second option is to let your tulips extend slightly above your round or square vase and accent with greens such as lily grass or pittosporum. Another idea for tulip centerpieces would be to use potted tulips and use those as giveaways…
Giveaways:
Potted tulips or tulip bulbs can be given as fresh and pretty wedding favors. Buy potted tulips or start them yourself in plastic containers with holes on the bottom which you should plan on inserting in another decorative container for presentation. If you are starting them yourself, you will need at least 4 months; 3 for the bulbs to “winter” and at least one for the bulbs to sprout and bloom. It’s definitely easier buying them already planted and ready to bloom. Whichever option you choose, you will want to cover the soil with moss; sheet, green moss looks great with the fresh crispness of tulips.
Corsages & Boutonnieres:
Body flowers can be made with tulips; just be sure to keep the flowers in the fridge and put them back in the cold as soon as you are done creating each corsage or boutonniere. Accent your tulips with a sprig of green hypericum berry, a twirl of lily grass or a coordinating flower such as a rose or a bloom of dendrobium orchid.
